"Calling," 2002
7" X 17"
sold |
The title reflects the force I sensed between the
golden trees at the left and the bale at the right, as well as my own
calling to paint. |

"Plein Air at Woodward,"
2003
9" X 9"
sold |
Painted entirely on location, this pastel has an
authentic feeling of the land folding downwards, then upwards and
beyond, on a summer morning. |

"White Bleeding Heart - Gently to Left" 2005
Pastel 4" X 6"
sold |
I like the gentle wave the flowers form and learned a
lot about the cool and warm shades of green in painting this series. |

"Farm on Ridge Road," 2003
10" X 17"
sold |
I sketched a nearby farm while standing in a snowbank!
I really like the geometry of the buildings interrelating, and the
pacing of the fence and road. |

"Apple- Granny Smith," 2003
5" X 4"
sold |
A domestic counterpart to the wild apples, this
pastel also explores the use of paper texture to create an 'inner
light'. |

"Wild Apple- Remembered,"
2003
5" X 4"
sold |
This image emerged from scratchy marks on the paper
which grew in to an apple shape. I like the vibrant colors, and
variation in use of the paper texture. |

"Pears from a Wild Tree," 2003
17" X 24"
sold
|
I came across a pear tree in a farm hedgerow by
surprise. Maybe it was the scent that drew me there. The
colors were so intense that I immediately took them home to paint.

"Early Spring Morning Near Beaver Stadium," 2007
Pastel 11" X 17"
sold
|
This was begun on location in the fields behind the
Centre County Visitors Centre next to Beaver Stadium. As the sun
rose behind Mt. Nittany, the clouds and trees formed arching shapes that
complemented the mountain. |

"Lemon and Slice" 2007
Pastel 6" X 10"
sold
|
It was really exciting to work with hot, bright colors
in the midst of winter, and the reflections were intriguing. |

"Purple Crocus - Sun Reaching" 2005
Pastel 6" X 5"
sold
|
I like this sketch with gentle lines and a kind of
tenderness, which is what I remember feeling while sketching them. |
